Cancer is a public health problem worldwide. It affects all manner of people: men and women, young and old, rich and poor as well as children. The percentage of cancer deaths is more than that of Tuberculosis, Malaria, HIV and AIDS put together. The WHO estimates that cancer deaths will rise to 9.0million by the year 2015 and increase further to 11.5 million by 2030. The number of new cancer cases were estimated to be 12.4 million globally every year, and risen to 16 million by the year 2020 and 75 percent of these will be in the Sub_Saharan Africa. In 2018, cancer killed 9.6 million people globally with 18.1million new cases. More than 80million people could die in the next 10 years if action is not taken(WHO) Up to 40% of Cancer deaths can be prevented by reducing tobacco use, improving diets and exercise and reducing exposures to environmental carcinogens and infections. By creating the awareness, 2 million lives can be saved by 2020 and 6.5 million by 2040 (WHO)

  • It is not known whether dietary changes can help to prevent the disease. Researchers are studying a number of possible contributing preventing factors, including the role of hormonal therapies. These studies may provide more information about the possibility of preventing breast cancer
